Things that crack me up, #16

Well, not so much cracked up this time, as surprised by something I did not know:

Not only was John (Cougar) Mellencamp born with a mild form of spina bifida, but he was birthed in a windmill.

I know.

I can't stand the pharse even inside the institutions... As a medical student it is hard to get around not using it but I avoid it. It is like an instant stigma and it is so vague. It is a useless term clincally. It does nothing clinically or socially to really tell us what the person's cabilitiies are or even disabilities. If I look down at a patients chart and all I see is MR it could mean 100 different things. If I look down and see Downs' Syndrome, then I have at least a checklist to go through health wise .
