One in Seven

One in Seven

I just added to my sidebar the above icon and link to Lady Bracknell's most excellent "One in Seven" post from the 2006 BADD (Blogging Against Disablism Day). I hear that Trinity made the icon, which is lovely. For all the easy info to add it to your own site, go here.

Visual description of the icon: It's about an inch-and-a-half square. A sans-serif number seven fills the square in a forest green shade over a much deeper blackish-green background that flares to bright kelly green closest to the number. In white text over the number are the words "one in seven".

I like the icon very much - I was glad to the link as I was unaware that the percentage in the UK was so high since visability is so low.

Disability education was a requirement for all employees at the university department we worked in the UK, however now in Canada that is not the case at all - The BC government has announced a new campaign to dramatically increase the number of minority members employeed (at least tripling the current numbers) - did this include those with disabilities? She asked. No. Such applicants were not sought even under current diversity programs.

And I love your "visual description" for it, makes it sound truly lovely! :)
