Things that crack me up, #23

From Flickr contributor giginger

Visual description: A window display with five different wheelchairs among green and warm reddish-orange curtains. A big sign reads "Don't you wish your wheelchair was HOT like me?" and three smaller signs by different wheelchairs reading "Don't cha?" "Don't cha?" "Don't cha?"

Philip: No worries for me. It's the Flickr credit for the photographer.

Ook!: I just can't help myself.

Are there 'specialist' websites for this sort of thing??? - LOL

Philip goes off to google with a big grin on his face.

Yeah, I don't recognize the brand but I think of the Colours in Motion site which sort of implies that if I get their chair, I too can do backflips or sit around with a sexy tattoo. Yes, let's bring the world of car advertising to chairs: when can we see someone in a chair alone on the road going down switchbacks at high speed set to classical music

Back in the '80s ads for wheelchairs and other medical equipment were much different, mostly implying they would help you with your misfortunes -- or help your caregivers care for you. There are certainly problems with creating this ad-glitzed hierarchy of glamorous disabled folks, but I have to say that I prefer ads that cater to disabled people and don't treat us as if we have no lives or adventures at all.
